Details of the car

It is one of the five prototypes Callaway® developed as noted by the rubber ribs on the intercooler instead of the company logo as listed in Stan Fisher's Callaway registry in the Alfa Owner.  Driven by Alfa Romeo, Inc's advertising manager and used for the road tests.  This Alfa is a rare, gorgeous, semi-exotic, exciting, good condition, clean, running, driveable automobile. This is a front engine, V6, 230 HP, rear transaxle 2-door Coupe.  It has a 5 speed with an Alfa Romeo Milano Platinum transaxle with inboard rear disk brakes for higher speeds per gear shift.  A Milano Verde clutch and new clutch bearings were installed.  A Milano 70 amp alternator for increased power was added.  Koni, 40mm bore, gas/hydraulic shock absorbers added to both front and rear.

VIN #: ZARAA6698F1006910  Vehicle is registered in Connecticut with a clear title and running.

Engine is a 2.5 Liter Alfa Romeo V6, 230 HP @ 5500 RPM, modified and installed by Callaway Cars® of Lyme, CT.  It has special pistons, twin turbo chargers and an air to air intercooler.  Both air and oil filters have been modified and re-located.  Callaway® added a hood scoop to make room for the air to air intercooler.  A rear, body color spoiler is included.  To my knowledge, this car has not been in a vehicular accident.  Factory claimed 0 – 60 mph time of 5.9 seconds.  This is not a ‘kit’ car.  This is a Callaway Cars® factory built first OEM project, titled; ‘C3,’ a limited edition Alfa Romeo GTV/6.  Only 34 were ever made and I do not believe that all remain.  This is before Callaway Cars were making turbo chargers for Corvettes!  Car is listed on the Callaway Registry. 

Car passed Connecticut state emissions test on 12/20/2005.  Less than 150 miles have been put on the car since this test.  Recent oil change performed on 12/16/2006 with Valvoline® High Mileage 20w50 oil.  Car has mostly been run with Valvoline® racing oil 50 or 60 and sometimes Mobil 1. Car has 95k miles on it and has always been professional maintained, garaged and kept out of the snow.

Enhancements, (what’s cool):

Car has been lowered and the chassis stiffened with Shankle® front and rear anti-sway bars, lower, heavier rear springs and heavier duty torsion bars and all new bushings for a tight, track able ride.  4 wheel disk brakes now have Cal Rotor, cross drilled brake rotors for quicker heat dispersion; Kevlar pads on the rear.

Stock cloth interior was been upgraded with a black leather interior; the only leather interior Alfa produced in the GTV/6 series, that of the 1981 model year.  The next model years had leather seats but vinyl door panels; the 1981 had leather door panels.  This gives the car the true one of a kind look and feel.

Fresh coat of red paint was done one year ago – only 150 miles ago.  Paint was needed to repair hood damage caused by nuts from a neighboring Shagbark Hickory tree.

New Bridgestone Potenza® R92 16” 225/55 high performance, all season tires were added 12/16/06.  They have approximately 100 miles on them.   Some pictures were taken with the old Pirelli P-Zero’s on them.  Those tires were cracked and in such terrible condition I needed to replace them for this sale.

Stock wheels have been replaced with 16” x 7” Gold tone BBS® modular rims with locking wheel nuts included.

Battery is approximately 1.5 years old, Sears Diehard®.

Headlight switch has been reversed so that normal position is down, away from the steering wheel and driving position to improve the handling experience.

Leather wrap steering wheel, Alfa Romeo logo floor mats & Fire extinguisher on passenger’s side floor – required for track time.
