The Astronomical Society of Greater Hartford is a non-profit incorporated organization of amateur astronomers that was begun in the early 1960s and grew out of it’s original club known as the Central Connecticut Amateur Astronomers. Our members have interests in all aspects of amateur sky observing including, among other things, astrophotography, telescope making , solar, lunar & occultation observing, cosmology and archaoastronomy. Our society meets on the 3rd Wednesday of the month from September to May at Copernicus Planetarium, Wells Street, CCSU, New Britain, Conn. at 7:30 P.M. We also sponsor an annual public astronomy one-day event at Wesleyan University, STARCONN, traditionally held in mid-spring.
Membership to the Society has many benefits and includes access to a library of several hundred books and a number of portable telescopes for members use. Please contact our equipment caretaker regarding loan of a telescope. The Society has established an e-group for member-only internet communication and news. Once you send in your membership, sign up for e-group membership. It is your news vehicle. Our web site address is http://www.asgh.org
